  • Apply the airway algorithms to manage patient scenarios
  • Identify how to maximize patient safety during airway management
  • Understand airway pharmacology
  • Identify indications and performance characteristics for common airway devices
  • Construct safe rescue plans when faced with a failed airway
  • Understand factors that impact a patient’s oxygenation status and adequacy of ventilation
  • Understand factors that increase a patient’s work of breathing
  • Identify relevant airway anatomy
  • Know the innervation of the upper airway
  • Know how to perform best-technique preoxygenation for emergency airway management
  • Understand how shunt physiology and dead space can affect preoxygenation and ventilation
  • Understand the role of flush rate oxygen and apneic oxygenation in patient safety during emergency airway management.
Method of Participation

All questions are approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and MOC points.  You must answer questions correctly to receive CME credit and MOC points.
